Abstract: The work in hand deals with the stained glass panels, designed by the artist Franz X. W.
Braunmiller (1905‐1993), for the neo‐Gothic Munich church Heilig‐Kreuz. Depicted are
scenes from Jesus Christ´s Stations of the Cross. The large‐formatted panels have been
stored at the executive glass studio Gustav van Treeck due to the inability of the church to
pay for them since their production in 1948.
In 2011 in the course of restoration works within the glass studio the forgotten stained glass
panels came to light and are being dealt with by the interested parties, such as the Bavarian
State Office for the Preservation of Historical Monuments, who will also decide the panels’
future.
On the basis of a detailed pre‐conservation report and the documentation of information, the
long‐hidden panels have been re‐discovered. In addition, a long term plan to further conserve
and restore the panels has also been drawn up.
Moreover it is planned, though not yet decided, to make the panels accessible to the public,
store them safely and make them available to be viewed.
